Sepik River Canoe Tours (Tour Code: AT-S12)

The Sepik River is Papua New Guinea's equivalent to the Amazon. The mystical East Sepik Province is situated on the North Coast of Papua New Guinea. For people who live along its banks the river is central to everyday life, and they depend on it for transportation, water and food.

Detailed Itinerary: Port Moresby, Wewak and the Sepik River. (This program can be extended to the Highlands for 4 additional nights).

Day 1: International Flight/Port Moresby/Wewak
Arrive in Port Moresby from your international flight and get your connection flight to Wewak on flight PX126 at 15:30. Overnight at In-Wewak Boutique Hotel. (Bed only)

Day 2:  Wewak/Kanganamun
Transferred to Pagwi for your canoe expedition. Visit the oldest Haus Tambaran along the Sepik River and overnight at Kanganamun Guest House. (BLD)

Day 3: Kanganamun/Palambe/Kamanabit
Transfer to Palambe by motorize canoe and hike inland for about 30 minutes and exploring the Palembe villages and visit the Haus Tambarans. Overnight Kamanabit village guest house. (BLD)

Day 4: Kamanabit/Chambri Lakes
Continue journey into Chambri Lake by motorized canoe and see potteries of all sizes, shapes, colors and patterns. Overnight at Kamanabit village house. (BLD)

Day 5: Kamanabit/Blackwaters/Govase
After breakfast board your canoe to Krosmeri River into Black Water. Internact with the locals and also encounter myriad of birds and wild life. Continue your journey upstream to Govase and overnight. (BLD)

Day 6: Govase/Kangriman/Kamanabit
Village tour of Govase Village. Interact with the locals and explore their traditions cultures and lifestyles. After lunch motorized downstream to Kangriman’s Haus Tambaran (spirit house). Continue on to Kamanabit and Overnight. (BLD)

Day 7: Kamanabit/Pagwi
Today bid farewell to your friendly hosts at Kamanabit village and continue your journey to Wewak via Pagwi. On arrival check into Wewak Boutique Hotel and overnight. (BL)

Day 8: Wewak/Port Moresby
Transfer to the airport and board flight PX 125 at 06:00 to Port Moresby via Madang for your next destination. The fight arrives at 08:10. END OF PROGRAM. Or Extend the program to the Highlands. See below.

EXTENDED PROGRAM

Highlands Odyssey. (Tour Code: ET-H11)
In this extended program you will be visiting the Highlands region of PNG including Goroka and Mt Hagen and parts of Simbu and Enga provinces. Highlights of this program including an encounter with the Asaro Mud-men of Goroka and several other tribal groups in Mt Hagen plus birding, wildlife and nature tours in Kumul Lodge.

 4 nights itinerary: Wewak, Goroka, Simbu, Mt Hagen and Kumul Lodge.

Day 8: Wewak/Goroka
Board flight PX125 to Port Moresby and get your connection flight to Goroka on flight PX960. Half day tour in Goroka including Asaro Mudmen and villages. Overnight at Pacific Gardens Hotel. (LD)

Day 9: Goroka/Mt Hagen
Transfer by road to Mt Hagen. En route village and cultural tours in Simbu Province. Overnight at Highlander Hotel. (BLD)

Day 10: Mt Hagen (Rugli Village)
Transfer to Rugli village for village and cultural tours. Afternoon transfer to Kumul Lodge and overnight. (BLD)

Day 11: Mt Hagen/Kumul Lodge
Full day Kumul Lodge birding and wildlife discovery tours. Overnight at Kumul Lodge. (BLD)

Day 12: Mt Hagen/Port Moresby
Transfer to the airport and board flight PX181 to Port Moresby. The flight departs at 10:30 and arrives at 11:30. (B) END OF PROGRAM.

Sepik House Tambaran (Spirit House). This is an exclusive men house where all the initiations and ceremonies takle place. Women and children rarely set foot into this habitation. Special permissions given to tourists.
